Man faces additional drug charges

April 25--MOULTRIE -- A Moultrie man who was arrested earlier in the month faces additional charges related to prescription narcotics and ADHD medications.

The 15 pills were found during an investigation into the sale of prescription medication taking place in the Wal-Mart shopping center, a said Colquitt County Sheriff's Office Inv. Randy Rakestraw.

The department's Drug Enforcement Team received the tip John Fitzgerald Jones Jr., who was at the time a Wal-Mart employee, was selling drugs in the parking lot, Rakestraw said.

"(During) my surveillance I observed him drive from the Wal-Mart parking lot to Barber's restaurant and throw an item out of the passenger window," he said. "The wadded up newspaper contained a bag that contained the 15 pills."

The drugs were not intended for anyone at the restaurant, he said, but was a drop-off point for a customer whom Jones would not identify, the officer said.

On April 16 Rakestraw intercepted Jones as he was going in to work. He gave permission for a search of his car and officers found suspected marijuana. At that time he was charged with possession of marijuana.

On Wednesday Rakestraw filed an additional charge of Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act against Jones, 28, 3312 Old Adel Road Lot 1, in connection with the pills.

In other arrests:

--Randy Millard Bivins, 43, 945 Perry Road, was charged with disorderly conduct.

--Dianna Marie Thornton, 31, 800 16th St. Apt. A-6, Adel, was charged Thursday with possession of marijuana.

Moultrie Police

--Ricky Lee Jarvis, 26, 2528 Fifth St. S.E., was charged Thursday with simple battery and two counts cruelty to children.

He was arrested after Amanda Jarvis reported that he had hit her while they were driving in Moultrie. Two children were in the back seat of the car at the time, police said. Amanda Jarvis had a red mark on the right side of her face.

--Ariel Caitaln Conger, 18, and Crystal Dawn Conger, 19, both of 4513 Doerun-Norman Park Road, were each charged Thursday with theft by shoplifting.

Wal-Mart, 641 Veterans Parkway S., reported that the two teens paid for some merchandise that they had selected but left the store with $14 worth of store merchandise for which they did not pay concealed inside Crystal Conger's purse.

--Abe Dewayne Dennis, 32, 209 Third St. N.W., was charged Thursday with suspended license, suspended tag and child seat belt violation.

Norman Park Police

--Reginald Devon Golden, 23, 67 Dorothy Lane, Wetumpka, Ala., was charged Wednesday with speeding, window tint violation and driving while license withdrawn.

Burglary

Sheriff's Office

--Heather Bryant, 600 block Greene Dairy Road, reported Thursday the theft of property valued at $6,400, including a Bell racing helmet diamond wedding band, pair of white gold earrings and coins.

Thefts

Brandon Jones, 22, Moultrie, reported Thursday the theft of a cellular telephone valued at $100.

Jones told police that he spent the night at a residence in the 600 block of First Avenue Northwest and that the phone was missing when he got up.

Maximiliano Ruiz Morales, 200 block Oak Street, Omega, reported Thursday that when he returned to the 4900 block where he had left his Ford F-150 truck it was gone.

The truck was recovered, sheriff's reports said.

--James Herbert White, 1300 block Fairview Drive, reported Thursday the theft of $65, a pistol and bullets from a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Property damage

--Vandenese Kinchen, 48, Moultrie, reported that a 2014 Nissan Altima was damaged.

Moultrie Police

--Tracy Stewart, 500 block First Avenue Northwest, reported that two juvenile boys attacked her won on Thursday and stole an XBox 360 controller the previous day.The controller was returned to Stewart, police said. One of the juveniles identified showed police a video of the fight and said he did not participate other than trying to separate the other two.
