  Programs that provide therapeutic interventions for adults who, as children, were subjected to sexual abuse or exploitation that took place within the family by a parent, guardian, step-parent, sibling or other relative or outside the home by a friend, neighbor, child care provider, teacher or stranger, and who are dealing with the trauma of that experience in their adult lives. Child sexual abuse includes sexual kissing, touching, fondling a child's genitals, oral, anal or vaginal intercourse and incest (sexual intercourse between an adult family member and a child or between siblings) as well as behaviors that don't involve contact such as genital exposure ("flashing"), intentionally engaging in sexual activity in front of a child, verbal pressure for sex, and sexual exploitation for purposes of prostitution or pornography. Counseling is offered in a variety of settings and may include individual, conjoint, family and group therapy sessions.

  Programs that provide comprehensive medical services on an inpatient or outpatient basis for people who have symptomatic or asymptomatic HIV infections or a clinical AIDS diagnosis. An HIV diagnosis follows a reactive test for the HIV virus; however, a diagnosis of AIDS is given by a physician only if an individual's CD4 cell count is below 200 or if the individual develops certain opportunistic infections. Given that effective treatment is available for individuals who have been diagnosed with HIV, it is likely that someone who is adherent to treatment will never receive an AIDS diagnosis.

Activities include surveillance of the occurrence of the disease in the community, investigation of individual cases, and development of case histories and other interventions that will help to increase the medical establishment's understanding of the causes of the diseases and potential methods of prevention and cure. AIDS control activities are often initiated by local HIV prevention planning groups that are responsible for developing needs assessments and planning long and short-term strategies specific to target communities as determined by the studies.

The information may include but not be limited to name, address and Social Security number. This information along with test results remains with the test center unless otherwise released by the person seeking testing. Should the person test positive, the personal identifying information may be reported to state epidemiology offices where required by law. Confidential HIV testing may be a component of testing for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).
