Jan. 21--STOCKTON -- Eight people were arrested, four guns were taken off the streets and 36 traffic stops were made during a collaborative enforcement mission of local law enforcement agencies to curtail ongoing gang and gun violence in Stockton and San Joaquin County, Stockton police reported.

Friday's mission focused on 14 parole and five probation compliance searches by members of the Police Departments Gang Violence Suppression Unit and Community Response Team as well as San Joaquin County'sProbation Department and Sheriff's Office. The parole and probation violation arrests included seven felonies and one misdemeanor.

One traffic stop near Mistletoe and Belvedere avenues in east Stockton resulted in the arrest of Kenneth Dondunay, 31, on suspicion of numerous gun and narcotics charges, according to police.

After being pulled over, Dondunay told officers he did not have identification. During a search, officers alleged they found a loaded handgun in his waistband. They also reportedly found 175 grams of methamphetamine, 59 grams of heroin, 13 grams of cocaine, a scale and a large quantity of plastic bags in Dondunay's vehicle, the police report stated.

The Sheriff's Office reported another arrest from a traffic stop during a joint operation mission.

A vehicle driven by Lorenzo Hinojosa, 27, was stopped at an unspecified location reportedly for a suspended vehicle registration and tinted windows.

When deputies from the sheriff's community service enforcement team made contact with Hinojosa, they observed a semiautomatic handgun in plain view inside the vehicle. Hinojosa was arrested on suspicion of concealed weapon charges and being a felon in possession of ammunition and a handgun, the Sheriff's Office reported.
