Amanda Kwong, of Randolph, recently was inducted as a regular member into Beta Beta Beta, the national collegiate honor society for biology, at Emmanuel College in Boston. Regular members are undergraduate biological science majors who meet national requirements, including completion of at least one term of the second year of a four-year curriculum, and are in good academic standing.

Kayla Oliveira, of Stoughton, was recently inducted as an associate member into Beta Beta Beta, the national collegiate honor society for biology, at Emmanuel College in Boston. Associate members are undergraduate students who have an interest in the life sciences but do not yet qualify for regular membership in the Honor Society.

Elizabeth Hanson, of Stoughton, was recently named to the dean's list for the winter 2018 semester at Elmira College in Elmira, NY. To qualify, students must be full-time and achieve a GPA average of 3.6 or higher at the end of term.

Rachel Berkowsky, of Stoughton, and a sport and leisure management major, was inducted into Psi Chi on April 23 at the annual Psychology Honors Night and Psi Chi Induction Ceremony at Eastern Connecticut State University. Psi Chi is the international honor society for the field of psychology. Eastern students who are inducted into Psi Chi must attain a 3.5 GPA in psychology and a 3.0 GPA overall.

Patrick Ward, of Canton, Class of 2018, was one of 78 students selected to present an original academic research project from April 23 to 24 at Assumption College's 24th Annual Undergraduate Symposium on the Worcester campus. Ward presented "The Opioid Crisis: Drug Offenders and Recidivism Patterns." The purpose of Ward's study was to collect and analyze data that pertains to recidivism patterns among individuals who have been convicted of a drug offense. The project was inspired by his time as an intern for a police detective unit at the state level.
