BRIEF: Congressman to hold veterans' roundtable

Wenatchee World, The (WA) - 3/6/2015

March 06--EAST WENATCHEE -- Military veterans' access to speedy health care will be one topic under discussion next week when Rep. Dan Newhouse holds a veterans' roundtable in East Wenatchee.

The gathering will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall, 211 11th St NE.

The 4th District congressman will discuss his new bill to assist veterans in finding health care outside of the Veterans Administration network, particularly if the veteran has to drive more than 40 miles or wait more than 30 days to receive VA care. The Newhouse bill would help define distance to care as road miles instead of "as the crow flies" miles, a press release said.

Other topics will also be up for discussion, said Will Boyington, communication director the Newhouse office.
