Commercial-News (Danville, IL) - 5/28/2015

May 27--DANVILLE -- Japhet C. Rivera, director of the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System, is no longer employed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, according to a news release issued Wednesday.

Rivera had been appointed to head the Illiana system in February 2014.

Diana Carranza, associate director, has been named acting medical center director, effective Wednesday.

The search process for a new director will be initiated immediately, according to Wade Habshey, health system specialist/public affairs officer.

"Carranza, an experienced VA leader, will ensure high quality, safe, accessible VA health care services are provided to veterans in Illinois and Indiana during this transition," Habshey said.

Respecting the privacy of VA's personnel management process, no further information may be provided regarding this action, he said.
