FILS honors veterans

News Graphic - 12/9/2016

CEDARBURG - First Immanuel Lutheran School hosted its annual Veteran's Day Service Nov. 15. The event featured special music performed by the Wildcat Music Ensemble, the FILS Band and the school choir of third-through eighth-grade students. Beloved and well-known patriotic numbers were dedicated to all veterans and especially those in attendance from the American Legion Post 288 of Cedarburg.

In addition to being guests of honor, the

Legionnaires performed a flag-folding demonstration for the students, faculty, parents and guests.

The event included presentations from seventh-and eighth-graders who took top honors at the school's "What it Means to be an American" fair.

After the service, several Legionnaires stayed and volunteered their time to visit the eighth-grade classes, answer questions and give the students an opportunity to see various military gear.
