Jan. 23--Nuclear Waste Partnership (NWP) and United Way of Carlsbad and South Eddy County share a 20 year history of service to Carlsbad.

On Jan. 9 NWP presented United Way of Carlsbad and South Eddy County with $105,000 to benefit area programs.

"Nuclear Waste Partnership and its hundreds of employee are proud to work with United Way to support their focus on improving the lives and strengthening the communities of South Eddy County," Sean Dunagan, president and project manager for Nuclear Waste Partnership said.

United Way benefits various organizations including Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad, Calvary Assembly of God Food Pantry, Carlsbad Battered Families Shelter, Carlsbad Anti-Drug and Gang Coalition, Carlsbad Community of Hope Center, Carlsbad Lifehouse, CARC, Eddy County CASA, Carlsbad Transitional Housing and Homeless Shelter, Cavern City Advocacy Center, Ronald McDonald House Charities of NM, Southeast NM Veterans Transportation Network, and Southeast New Mexico Community Action Corp.

"We sincerely thank all the donors from Nuclear Waste Partnership that made the United Way campaign a success. Simply put, if it wasn't for faithful supporters like you, we wouldn't be able to help our communities' most vulnerable. Thank you for supplying the support needed to make a difference in the lives of thousands," said Linda Dodd, United Way Executive Director.

The entire Nuclear Waste Partnership organization is encouraged to participate in working with and donating to the United Way.

Angela Johnson, Nuclear Waste Partnership transportation manager, along with assistance from Malene Soto, took the lead for United Way fundraising.

"Working with United Way is one way that we can all have a longer reach to help more people," Johnson said. "I have run the United Way campaign for Nuclear Waste Partnership for three years and found that the best way to get people to invest in their community is to talk with them."
